European and UK innovation funding opportunities

This in-person session will provide an opportunity to network with other innovative companies and researchers and learn about the latest innovation funding opportunities for heating cooling and the built environment.Presentations on both the latest European, UK and Scottish support will be delivered by: • Conall McGinley, Horizon Europe UK National Contact Point for Energy (Innovate UK) • Mat Colmer, Senior Innovation Lead for Construction and Net Zero (UK Research and Innovation) • Rachel McCaw, Specialist, Low Carbon Transition (Scottish Enterprise). In addition to these presentations there will be an opportunity to organise meetings with some of Scotland’s key innovation organisations to discuss your project ideas and next steps... • Scottish Enterprise/ SEGEC • UKRI/ Innovate UK • Built Environment – Smarter Transformation • British Geological Survey/ UKGEOS • Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC) And others… Horizon Europe The latest Horizon Europe calls were published in December 2022, providing research and innovation funding to businesses, universities and the public sector across the energy sector, including those working heating cooling and the built environment. Conall McGinley will provide an overview of these new opportunities which have deadlines throughout 2023 and 2024 (totaling over €300 million across Europe) and the background and benefits of the funding programme. Innovate UK The Innovate UK Strategic Delivery Plan to 2026 was also launched in 2022, laying out how IUK activities are realigning to make the UK a global hub for innovation. Mat Colmer will outline what these changes mean to organisations in the built environment sector. He will highlight opportunities in the, heat, power and manufacturing space and explain how important place-based approaches are to the delivery strategy. Green Heat National Programme Green heat will be crucial for Scotland to meet its net zero targets and there are immediate, large-scale opportunities for companies in Scotland. Rachel McCaw will provide an overview of the Green Heat National Programme, including the £17.6 million Green Heat Innovation Support Programme which is being delivered by Scottish Enterprise in partnership with Scottish Government, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and South of Scotland Enterprise.
