This webinar will take place on 11th December, 2pm CET.
The rapidly escalating problem of plastic pollution poses a significant global challenge, adversely affecting environmental, social economic and health aspects of sustainable development.
According to WWF, if current trends continue unchecked and no immediate measures are taken, global plastic waste could almost triple, reaching approximately 1.2 billion tonnes by 2060. The fifth and final round of negotiations (INC-5) is due to take place to create a legally binding treaty to address this issue. The previous round ended without an agreement to cut plastic production, which is considered the most important part of the treaty.
Ahead of INC-5, the chair proposed a non-paper to streamline negotiations, but major gaps remain in the treaty text. After INC-5, will we have secured essential measures for a global plastics treaty?
Join expert speakers as we discuss the outcome of INC-5:
- – Jodie Roussell, global public affairs lead – packaging & sustainability, Nestlé
- – Erin Simon, vice president, plastic waste and business, WWF
