People, Planet, Pastry
If you’re interested or curious about sustainability, come along to the People, Planet, Pastry event to meet like-minded business owners who are taking action on sustainability. Learn about what is going on locally, share insights on how to overcome barriers and make new friends!
This relaxed and informal event brings people together to learn more about sustainability and take action.
The sister event, People, Planet, Pint, brings people together to learn more and chat about climate, while our “Pastry” series is focused on empowering small businesses with the action they can take and where to start with sustainability.
While we will mostly be discussing businesses, this is an open event where anyone is welcome, so if you’re curious about what’s going on, come on down!
Venue
Solar Sisters Cafe, our chosen venue, is a Community Interest Company established in 2021 by siblings Lucy and Nina.
As for what to bring, attendees are advised to carry a notebook and business cards for networking opportunities.
There will also be an optional community space within the Inspiration Space platform for folks who want to keep the conversation going and maintain connections beyond the events
Our Special Guests
Heather Lynch, formerly the Head of Impact & Sustainability at ODDBOX and a Consultant at PwC’s ‘Sustainability and Climate Change’ team, brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
Joining Oddbox in its early days, she played a pivotal role in its growth. Now an independent Sustainability Advisor and Coach, this is your chance to ‘pick her brain’ and learn from her extensive experience.
Lucy Howard and Nina Clayton, real-life sisters and founders of Solar Sisters in Guildford took a bold step in 2021 to launch a Community Interest Company focused on zero-waste shopping.
They’ll share the story behind their venture, from its origins and motivations to the highs and lows of their first two years in business.
