Carbon Literacy for Marketing Professionals

This course is for in-house marketers, agency marketers and freelance marketing professionals. Educate yourself, make yourself more employable and find out how to reduce your business and lifestyle impact on the planet. Learn about the different types of greenwashing, how to avoid them and how to communicate sustainability claims clearly without getting your clients or business into trouble.

Join, Annie The Sustainable Life Coach and Heather, from Small Footprint Agency on a Carbon Literacy Training course designed for marketing professionals who want to make a positive change and take action and communicate clearly on climate change. Carbon Literacy provides “An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions on an individual, community and organisational basis.”

You will uncover: – the basics of climate change science – what’s already happening globally & locally – how your actions affect climate change – the tools & knowledge to reduce your impact at work and at home – how to identify and avoid greenwashing – how to calculate the carbon footprint of a marketing campaign – communication tactics to build engagement around climate and sustainability – how to build your own climate action plan – how to begin creating your own Carbon Literacy course*

What will the course consist of?

Training takes place online and consists of a presentation along with group discussion, videos, quizzes and games. In addition, 1 hour of home-based activity is required to complete the course. At the end of the course, you will be able to create your own Carbon Literacy course for your organisation or audience*.

When & Where is the course taking place?

There are two sessions: From 9.30 am to 1 pm on June 6th and June 7th on Zoom.

To receive the Carbon Literacy certification, you will need to submit an assessment form at the end of the course, which will be checked by the Carbon Literacy Project*. More information can be found here: https://carbonliteracy.com

Who is Annie The Sustainable Life Coach?

Annie is passionate about nature, sustainability solutions and making better choices. She is a registered Carbon Literacy Facilitator, has a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Leeds, an MSc in Conservation Biology from Manchester Metropolitan University and a diploma in Life Coaching. She has worked for the Zoological Society of London, the World Bank and for non-governmental organisations in East Africa. She also won two awards in the Climate Co-Lab competition at MIT University, Boston.

Who is Heather, Small Footprint Agency?

Heather is a self-proclaimed greenwashing detective. A combination of being based in the French Alps (where she can see the effects of global warming from her bedroom window) and her professional background in marketing and communications has led her to niche into sustainability communications. Heather holds a certificate in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge. Amongst other clients, she works part-time for a carbon consultancy firm, writing copy and providing communications consultancy for clients with Net Zero targets.

*You must attend both online sessions and complete the homework plus the assessment form to the satisfaction of the Carbon Literacy Trust to receive your accreditation.
