Derby - People Planet Pint™: Sustainability Meetup
, –
About this event
Do you wish trains were cheaper, there were more trees on your street, and more solar panels over local car parks?
Are you frustrated that with increasingly wild weather people are still paving over nature, and you’re left feeling like the only one who cares in your friends WhatsApp group?
You're not alone! You've just been in the wrong room.
People Planet Pint is your local sustainability meetup - no pitches, no presentations, no panels.
Just like-minded people talking about the planet over a pint (or two).
You don't need to be a sustainability professional. You don't need to know what "Scope 3" means (most people don't!).
If you’re curious about what’s going on locally and feel that a better future is possible - come along to meet others like you and chat about what’s going on locally, how to get involved and what solutions are out there.
Come for conversations with real people - it’s a space to swap ideas, find opportunities, get things off your chest or just sit back and listen. You'll leave with practical ways to get involved and leave a lot more optimistic about the future!
Every job is a climate job, so come along to ask the questions you've been too afraid to ask, and finally meet people who actually get it.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your experience or background.
A better future is possible now. And it starts at your local pub, with a pint in hand.
So, got a free evening? Come find your people.
Venue info
People Planet Pint is hosted in The Cellar Bar of The Flowerpot. Go in the main front door and follow the bar around to the left, ask the friendly bar staff if you'd like more info.
The Flowerpot is an award winning, independently female owned and ran, accessible real ale and live music venue. There is a fantastic Gurkha Curry night on a Thursday, if you are hungry. Live music may be happening later on in the gig room, bar area or lovely garden area depending on the time of year.
The Flowerpot is a short walk from Derby bus station, a slightly longer walk from the train station and also has a multi storey carpark close by. If you ask the staff, they are usually happy for you to put your bicycle in their garden. If you are travelling a fair distance, The Flowerpot also has rooms!
Your Volunteer Host
Claire Zwozny-Bestwick: I'm often introduced as my business name ‘CRZyBest’ and that's great, because I am Claire R. Zwozny-Bestwick. I’m a non-traditional, eco-friendly Silversmith & Sculptor, working from my CRZyBest Shedquarters in Derby, creating tiny sculptures in metal clay and turning them into jewellery and accessories. Ensuring our world is a happy place is really important to me, so when making CRZyBest creations I always try my best to look after my customers and our planet too, which is why I make every effort to source my energy, tools and materials from sustainable and ethical sources. Before starting my business, I was a teacher for 20 years and I still very much enjoy supporting others in their businesses, creativity and sustainability journey. I’m a massive advocate of collaboration over competition and my favourite things to make are inspired by dogs and beer, so when I’m not creating in my Shedquarters, you can find me walking my dog or sharing stories with people in my favourite pub, so what better next step than to start hosting ‘People, Planet, Pint’ in The Flowerpot!
